A Substack writer’s not-so-secret secret
Wired Magazines recommendation for a portable monitor. for the paying folks, how to come up with more effective calls-to-action in all your communications.
It’s gratitude.
Specifically, gratitude expressed in the form of a Substack note recognizing newsletters that have either recommended My Home Office Hacks or from where the most My Home Office Hacks subscribers have come.
Why it matters
Over the week of postings, My HOH gained 20 subscribers, pushing us over 1500.
Going deeper
In my Substack journey, it took longer to go from 1000 to 1500 than any other milestone. So, the effectiveness of this experiment bears noting, pun intended.
I have not gone through the new subscribers to see where they actually came from. It could be from the publications I promoted. Maybe some people who read the Notes thought it was cool that a Substack writer promoted other writers and wanted to check us out.
It could just be good karma and totally random.
I’ll take it.
Conclusion
In my six decades of life there’s one thing I’ve learned. If you’re feeling in a rut, the shortest path to unstuck begins with gratitude. Then its just a matter of picking the format.
Share your gratitude today. And then try it again tomorrow and the day after that, etc. See what happens.
What keeps you from working remotely?
Personally, it’s that I prefer to work in my home office where I have everything I need, rather than remotely where I have just my laptop. For those of you who use multiple monitors, this portable monitor can bring your home office a little closer to you when working remotely.
