Are we losers?
Minneapolis mayor's unfortunate comments about remote worker; special offer for My Home Office Hacks readers.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey might have been joking when he referred to people who work from home as losers. Yet they say there’s a bit of truth in everything we say:
I don't know if you saw this study the other day, but what this study clearly showed: When people who have the ability to come downtown to an office don't — when they stay home sitting on their couch, with their nasty cat blanket, diddling on their laptop ... if they do that for a few months, you become a loser! We're not losers, are we?"
Other than the suggestion that I have a cat blanket (I’m a dog person), I have to agree with Da Mayah. As a WFH professional, I’ve lost the following:
⌚ 2-3 hours of a commute
🤵 The need for half of my wardrobe
👅 Taste buds assaulted by office coffee
What else have WFH professionals lost? Leave your thoughts below.
The best part of the loser discussion
As you can imagine, social media had some “fun” with Mayor Frey’s comment. Here’s a LinkedIn post with some good ones, including:
Proudly kickin' a$$ and making a difference in my home office! (But also making a note to wash my cat's blanket. How did he get that part right?)
“A slap to (mostly) highly efficient professional moms who DESERVE to WFH.”
