AWeber wins…for now
Looking for a more affordable email marketing alternative to Constant Contact and Mailchimp--better service, too? Check out AWeber. Plus, green work-from-home tips for the paying customers 😉
In search of something less expensive than Constant Contact and with better help resources than MailChimp, I give you AWeber.
Why it matters
I have used both Constant Contact and MailChimp for clients for years. I loved Constant Contact for the ease of use and the fact that you could get a live human to help you. I suppose I liked Mailchimp for the price for smaller email lists—free. For larger ones, it costs as much as Constant Contact.
In 2025, for larger lists, AWeber is just as easy to use as Constant Contact (and easier than Mailchimp), and you can get a live human to help you. You still can’t do this with MailChimp unless you’re terminating an account, which I did when I switched a client to AWeber.
Going deeper
For me, switching email marketing platforms is like switching accountants. You just don’t do it unless there’s something wrong with what you’re using.
With Constant Contact, I got tired of hearing, “There’s a bug. We’ll write up a ticket and let you know when it’s resolved.”
With MailChimp, I’ve never found it user-friendly. It’s always been frustrating that it’s easier to find a solution by doing a Google search than searching their Help section. And when the free option is no longer available to you because of the number of subscribers, it’s time to move on.
AWeber in a nutshell
Very similar to use as Constant Contact and Mailchimp, with a lot of templates to choose from and drag-and-drop menus. The game-changer is great customer service. You don’t need to be transferred from department to department. Anybody who answers the phone can answer email or advocate questions.
AWeber will also transfer your templates and contacts over for you so you’re not starting from scratch.
The price?
I’ve found it to be about 2/3 the price of both CC and MC (AWeber is also based on the number of email contacts). And there’s a free option if you want to try it out. Link below.
Share your favorite plant
In honor of the upcoming Earth Day, I’m looking for suggestions on what to get for an office plant. Please take a photo of your favorite and name the type of plant it is. I’ll feature a few in the next My Home Office Hacks.
LASTAR Desk Lamp, Dimmable Eye-Protecting Table Lamps with Night Light, USB Charging Port, 4 Color Temperature Modes, 5 Brightness Levels, 1H Timer, Touch Control for Home Office Bedroom
In today’s home office, we ask a lot of a desk lamp. It’s more than just to see, but to be seen (on video calls). And if it can throw in some extra features and take up less space, even better. This desk lamp shines in those areas and saves valuable desk space.
