I had so much fun with this subject line it’s back to introduce another great hack for WFH and home-based business owners: Descript.
Descript is an app you can use to record your screen and edit videos. One its beauties lies in the fact you can take out the ah’s, um’s and other stuff you don’t like by editing the transcript of the video. Exhibit A, a video with um’s.
Here’s a screenshot of the transcript:
As you can see the “uh” is highlighted. All you have to do is delete and it takes it out of the video. That’s what I did with all the um’s and uh’s. Here’s what it sounds like.
The beauty of this app is that you can get the first three hours of transcription for free. A true free as you don’t have to provide a credit card to use the app. If you end up using the service more, it has a fairly reasonable pricing plan.
But what about…OpenLampTech
As somebody who grew up in Greater Boston, Wednesday was known as Prince Spaghetti Day, based on the famous Prince Spaghetti. In this millennium, Wednesday has a different moniker: WordPress Wednesday. WPW is a special edition put out by OpenTechLamp, a techie newsletter for those who understand acronyms like MySQL (and SQL. If you do, please check it out.
An essential for working from home…a chair with a headrest
Did a little back to school shopping with the daughter the other day. Rather than get swept up in shopping for binders, index cards and other minutia that high school students “need”, I drifted over to the furniture section of Staples to check out desks and chairs. There I discovered something magical: a chair with a head rest.
As someone who stands 6’6”, a head rest seems alien. Yet in sitting in a chair with one, I felt at home. Now, I want one. So, I’m looking at chairs again. Here’s one I checked out the other day. Thoughts?
