This week’s My Home Office Hacks was all set to pay homage to Tim Ferriss’ 5-Bullett Friday newsletter. Had those bullets mentally aligned. It just needed to on the screen. Then, I reached down for my phone and…
Where’s my phone!?!?!
When you work from home losing your phone is like losing a limb—only without being injured. You just suddenly have no limb (and it’s far more painful).
What’s even more maddening is it’s almost always in your home and buried under something or in some obscure place where you stopped for one second, put the phone down and then got distracted by something.
Well, if you’re like me, you stop everything and start retracing steps and count to 100 before you start tearing the place up. This time though I did something a little different:
I asked Alexa to call my number.
Boom! She/they/it placed the call and the familiar ringtone of Queen’s I Want to Break Free filled the air. Following the sound led to the back bedroom where the phone was under a blanket.
Problem solved.
And a new topic for My HOH was born. Sorry, Tim.
Yet knowing Alexa will not always be there to bail me out, I did a little digging. I’ve never been a fan of those trolling apps where parents can track the location of their kids and vice versa. Particularly paying for that privilege. The article below lists several options, including the free for Androids app from Google, Find my Device.

Living with a vacuum
Yes, working from home can feel like living in a vacuum at times. My recent purchase of a wireless vacuum with air blowing capabilities has convinced me its better to live with one than in one.
Raise your hand if you eat at your workstation? Guilty as charged. While most crumbs sweep away, some get caught between the keys and no good can come of that. With a wireless vacuum, you can suck it up or blow it out. And unlike those cans of air, you don’t have to show your ID.
