In the early days of the Internet, it was fun to do a search on your name and see what came up. There’s a new and perhaps more valuable fun thing to do in the AI age: interview yourself.
Yours truly came across this idea in Minimalist Hustler, a great and short daily read, who got the idea from newsletter guru Josh Spector. Simply open up ChatGPT and ask the following:
“I’m an expert on ____. Interview me asking me one question at a time and then a follow up question based on each of my answers."
Here’s one I did on being a work from home expert.
Now, you may be wondering why should you do something like this, other than to test out the incredible/scary capabilities of AI. Well, if you’re a business owner or run a website for your employer, one of the more pivotal pages is your FAQ or Frequently Asked Questions.
The FAQ section enables you to jump into the shoes of your prospects and/or customers, asking the questions they probably have. This will or should be one of your most visited pages. The other beauty of your FAQ page is that it is also one of your better sources for ideas for social media posts.
How?
It can be as simple as repeating the question and then starting the answer within the post with a link. Back to our example:
Q: What is the most important factors to consider when setting up a home office for remote work?
A. Some might say having a dedicated office space. This My Home Office Hacks post goes into more detail on what you should consider for your home office. LINK, #HASHTAG
You can literally do that for every question in your FAQ. Maybe even two or three posts per question. And a great way to get the information for those posts is conducting an interview with yourself.
This strategy also works for those folks/purists who don’t really want to embrace AI. In this case ChatGPT is only asking the questions. You’re the one providing the answers.
Google alerts
In 2023, some things continue to amaze me, particularly among small business owners. In this day and age there are still SMBs who don’t use Google Alerts to let them know when their name or business is being mentioned on the Internet.
What are Google alerts?
Without shaming anybody, Google Alerts is a free tool provide by Google that enables you to set up keywords or phrases so you can be alerted when that word or phrase is mentioned on the internet. You are then sent an e-mail notification depending on how frequently you want to be notified:
As it happens
Once per day
Once a week
While you do need a Gmail account to set it up, you can also use your other email accounts to receive notifications. I have several of my business emails set up.
As far as no-brainers go, this one is right up there with the tax return. Why wouldn’t you want this?

Inspiring quote of the week
“It’s really a wonder that I haven’t dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.”– Anne Frank
Thanks for the shoutout Joe, appreciate it. I've had a Google Alert on my name for probably a decade or more now, it used to be mostly stuff about a stunt actor and a gymnast that both have the same name as me, but it's starting to get more and more about me lately.
Hey Joe! Thank you for the always crisp and informative newsletter! I learn something every read. Keep it up.
