That’s not an attempt at Sgt. Schultz impersonation, which loses way too much in print to be funny—or if you were born before 1970. Nor does it speak to my self-esteem. It refers to me never owning an iPad or iPhone. i have not.
In a way, I feel like I’m out on my own island (not i-land). My entire family has iPads and iPhones. Even my 82-year-old mother. So, when readers ask me questions about i-anything, I turn to Overoptimize.
Overoptimize shows you how to get the most out of your iPad. It’s written by Adi Kakarla. She’s a student as well as a fellow Substack author. And when it comes to learning technology, my go-to sources are always going to be the younger generation.
Check it out. Better yet, sign up! I know I’m going to show my mother this one on how to optimize the iPad battery.
Listen up to this great newsletter: The Podcast Critic Newsletter – Great Pods
In corresponding with another writer of The Podcast Critic Newsletter – Great Pods, yours truly was asked to name my favorite podcasts. While I’ve been on several, I only listen to a few. That’s largely because it’s difficult to write and listen to words. For drive time and busy office work, My HOH’s top podcasts include:
Kwik Brain with Jim Kwik – Jim Kwik has one of the more incredible stories of anybody you will ever hear. Overcoming brain injuries as a child and as a young adult, he devoted his life to brain development and learning. I got hooked while reading his book Limitless. BTW, a great read where you learn actionable strategies to reading faster and retaining more. His podcast, Kwik Brain with Jim Kwik is must-listen for me.
ChooseFI – This podcast offers tips on how to invest, how to remove debt, how to travel for less dollars, and critiques various side hustles. One of the things I like most about it is when they interview guests who were down on their luck and then started following some of the recommended strategies and turned their lives around.
Black Diamonds – My latest indulgence. It’s about the old Negro baseball leagues. I got hooked on it after reading a biography about Cool Papa Bell. If you’re feeling jaded about the salaries and commercialism of today’s MLB, this podcast will warm your soul. It’s available on SiriusXM and other channels.
