MLK Day and coffee shops
The greatest speech of all time, how to select a coffee shop for remote work and Cindy Crawford's home office
It’s a national holiday here in the US—Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. In celebration of the man and his contribution to the civil rights movement, here’s his famous “I have a dream” speech.
’nuff said.
What’s your coffee shop criteria?
Looking to mix it up with your WFH experience by working in a coffee shop? What things do you look for before firing up your laptop?
For yours truly, the following requirements must be met:
📶Free wifi (seems like forever ago places charged or timed)
🪑Chairs with backs
💻High tables with high back chairs
😎Modest amounts of daylight with minimal glare
👯Sparse to moderate people sitting at the other tables
🎵No music, ambient sounds only
🔌More than one or two outlets, preferably near the high top tables
🚗Drive through (shops with drive throughs have less customers coming in and looking for tables)
☕Passable coffee (hey, I’m there for the wifi and ambiance)
Those are mine. What do you look for when working in a coffee shop? Comment below.
Notes from My HOH virtual lunch with MHD’s Jamie Northrup
A great time was had by all at the My Home Office Hacks virtual lunch with Minimalist Hustle Daily’s Founder Jamie Northrup. There was a nice cross-section of visitors, some My HOHs and some MHDs. Here are some notes and observations:
Jamie prefers Medium, not Substack, for longer newsletter articles (see blog)
A former Tesla employee, now a WFH entrepreneur, shared a story about “the pushup guy” at Tesla, a co-worker who took pushup breaks
One attendee, an MHD member, actually lives in the same hometown as yours truly. Small world.
One attendee, a My HOH subscriber, shared her WFH strategy of working in different places in her home throughout the day to mix things up
The next My HOH virtual lunch will take place in a few weeks. Look for an upcoming announcement.
