Author Frank Lobb recently started a Substack entitled The Big Lie in Your Healthcare Insurance to support his book The Big Lie in My Healthcare Bill. Frank Lobb is 87.
Why it matters
Frank is slightly younger than the guy who inspired me to write a Substack, Dan Rather. Dan was 89 when he started his.
In addition to being in his 80s, Frank shares something else in common with Dan. He’s unafraid to speak the truth. Particularly about a subject that makes everyone uncomfortable: health insurance in the US.
Going deeper
Frank’s book takes on the assumption that we, the consumer/insured, owe healthcare providers whatever the insurance company doesn’t pay. That’s simply not true according to the Service Provider agreement signed between healthcare providers and the insurance companies.
Frank’s book and Substack also talk about a ruling from the U. S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which stated that those engaged in collecting a healthcare bill “must conduct reasonable and timely investigations of consumer disputes to verify the accuracy” of any purported healthcare debt.
In short, you can submit a written request to your healthcare provider for an explanation of your healthcare bill as long as it’s done within 30 days of receiving the bill. And you are not obliged to pay or face any penalty until your healthcare provider delivers an explanation in writing.
Frank’s book and website reveal all and he tells it way better than yours truly.

The 5 AM Club
While essentially taking last week off due to the MLK holiday and that other thing, I began my own my version of the 5 AM Club. That means starting my day at 5 AM with 20 minutes of exercise, 20 minutes of meditation and 20 minutes of learning.
Accomplishments and observations:
Two days actually started at 5am. The rest at 6am.
I went to bed before or by 10 each day; very tired.
Woke up refreshed, not exhausted, and usually before the alarm.
I read the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence. I don’t ever remember reading that word for word back in school.
