Nearly 30,000 views later and still waiting for ChatGPT to NOT be at capacity
AI Detection - The app you really need on your desktop or phone
ChatGPT. It was all the rage last week. Online. On the news shows. And for My HOH merely mentioning it in last week’s newsletter, we received nearly 30,000 views. Though there’s nothing to document whether those were actual human views or not.
For those of you who thought you would take ChatGPT out for a spin, you probably received this notification:
Now, as my 16-year-old is apt to point out, there’s nothing—and I do mean nothing—more embarrassing than a 50-something trying to rap anything. Instead, yours truly opted to looking something different. Namely, AI detection apps.
Verify by Personal caught my eye this week. It’s fairly straight forward. Copy and paste some text and it will tell you how much of the content was generated by human vs. computer. Here’s an example of how Verify works with text written for one of my clients:
Verify can detect computer-generated text with approximately 93%-95% accuracy. It was specifically created for educators, moderators and online platform. Frankly, it’s something that every HR professional should have as ChatGPT has put an asterisk on every cover letter and resume until verified.
You may be thinking these are the words of a professional copywriter feeling his livelihood threatened. Yes and no. ChatGPT is good. Yet you really can’t be certain of where the content is coming from and the accuracy. Real writers have to list sources.
Second, one of the true skills of copywriting is creating a voice and rapport with the reader. That’s not something easily simulated by the best AI. It’s sort of like when you call a company or visit website and get a bot. You know you’re not communicating with a live human being. That alters a lot of things—including your patience level and the language you use in shouting at something that has no feelings (guilty as charged).
That’s not to say ChatGPT and other AI apps will not have valuable use. Yet as Peter Parker’s uncle said in Spiderman said, “With great power comes great responsibility.”

Work from home basics
By now, we’ve all seen our fair share of articles on best practices for working from home. As much as we think we know all these things, actually doing them is another story.
Yours truly came to this realization this past week. A business colleague invited me to a Rotary Club meeting. Just a one-hour thing Thursday morning, short and sweet. Met some nice people and heard about the good works they are doing in the community. Yet the best part of attending was what it did for the rest of the day. I felt energized!
In hopes of passing that energy on to My HOHs, here’s a great article on WFH best practices. It’s a good thing to review every so often to make sure you’re consistently doing what you can to optimize your performance while working from home.
