Thank you. The greatest subject line EVAH!
My Home Office Hacks shares thanks on reaching 1,000 subscribers
How do you thank literally 1000 people and provide a solid home office hack at the same time? Make that hack about saying thank you. Specifically, using “Thank you” as your subject line whenever appropriate.
Over the years, yours truly has penned thousands of newsletters. In that time, one truth has emerged:
People will open a subject line that says “thank you” far more than any other.
Even my annual holiday newsletter where everybody on the list is actually family.
In some cases, the open rate doubled. I’m talking instead of 30 percent, it was 60 percent.
Why?
People who have done something do appreciate the recognition and gratitude for their efforts.
People who aren’t quite sure what they have done to warrant a thank you want to know what that might be.
For the purpose of this newsletter, the thank you is for signing up and continuing to support My Home Office Hacks. There are now more than 1,000 of you! I’m humbled by that number and will continue each week to bring you material and advice you can use to make your work from home experience more enjoyable and productive.
The next phase of My Home Office Hacks will feature more content from other contributors. That will include video as well as written content.
Stay tuned and thank you once again for being part of the My HOH movement.
Mandatory people time
You might be wondering what happened to last week’s edition of My Home Office Hacks. Well, yours truly did something out of the ordinary: I went away. And it wasn’t for R&R but to staff a Mankind Project NWTA weekend.
NWTA stands for New Warrior Training Adventure. It’s part of the initiation process to becoming an active member of the Mankind Project. You can find more information here.
Without getting too far into the Project, what I have noticed from taking that time completely off—no computer, limited phone—was that I came back exhausted and refreshed. There’s also been an extraordinary emotional benefit and karma shift. For example:
· Reaching a longtime goal of 1,000 subscribers
· A new client
· A certain je ne sais quoi, confidence
The benefits have been so great I have decided to make people time mandatory. That means there must be one non-work activity per week that’s purely social with live human beings. Online meetings do not count.
Do you have a similar rule or guideline you follow? I’d love to hear what you do for “people time”. Please drop a comment below.
So what if you don’t like to stick things in your ear?
SoundPEATS RunFree Lite
Until I tried SoundPEATS Capsule 3 Pro, yours truly wasn’t much for ear buds. Still not for extended use. And those bulky headphones that make you look like Princess Leia? Not so much. SoundPEATS RunFree Lite provides an alternative and might be a better dollar for dollar deal.
First, I put it through my stringent testing procedure. Called my 83-year-old mother. She heard me perfectly. Followed that up with a call to gadget guru Scott Tharler. Again, no problem. He couldn’t tell if I was on a device or not.
Then the ultimate test, wearing while working out. I wore these on a long walk to my mechanic. This is a high-traffic road I was able to conduct a phone call the entire walk without the other party notcing.
In terms of music, RunFree Lite provides delivers the same great sound of all the other SoundPEATS products.
Got to admit, what I like best is the price. I used to buy those sport headphones from Sony at 19.99 a pop. They worked great but inevitably the wire would break or the jack would wear out and I would end up buying two or even three a year. So wireless athletic headphones that sound like this seem like a steal. Particularly with the special SoundPEATS is offering, which ends, unfortunately, today. Check it out.
