Productivity. It’s always one of the bigger issues when working from home. So many distractions. With no boss, supervisor or peers around, it can be easier to get sucked into a mindless social media post or creating that YouTube Playlist of one-hit wonders.
Yet is that really wasting time? Or is it more like saving your sanity.
Take my friend Gary. He started posting his Wordle scores. I had no idea what he was talking about at first. Then I started hearing from other people in my circle about Wordle. It became a topic of interest on LinkedIn even. Some people started including it among their hobbies on resumes.
Playing Wordle may be somewhat of a distraction to the workday. It also can serve as a community builder and a way for people to connect. If you were working in an office with other people, you’d probably be spending a little time in the break room or at lunch talking about the day’s word.
If you really feel guilty about it being a waste of time, you can find other ways to incorporate it into your day. Yours truly plays Wordle while holding my daily five-minute squat. Another topic for another time but you can read about it here.
As somebody who works from home, you can always work a few minutes later in the day or take a shorter lunch if you really feel guilty. Yet you really shouldn’t feel guilty.
Remember, the biggest challenge of working from home is being productive. If exercising your brain to figure out the day’s Wordle puzzle puts you in a better frame of mind to work, go for it. If it gives you something to talk about with your co-workers, friends, or family, even more power to you.
As for that YouTube Playlist
Okay, the One-Hit Wonder playlist does not exist. I do have several:
Cover is Better than the Original;
Name That Tune (songs you recognize instantly)
Best First Line.
The One-Hit Wonder Playlist does intrigue me. But it could use your assistance. Yours truly will submit David Soul and Don’t Give Up On Us.
Please submit yours below. Contributions will be mentioned in next week’s My HOH.

I love Wordle. It sounds strange but I find it quite grounding. I play it while I boil my eggs in the morning. It's become a lovely routine.
