What made working from home easier for you this year
By things, we’re talking about items or practices that have improved the way you work in your home office.

All three of these things need some ‘splainin. So, here goes.
Snatch and clean & jerk squats
For years, Matt Furey’s Combat Conditioning exercises have been part of my daily routine. Last year, he introduced a variation of his Hindu Squats incorporating a bamboo pole and emulating weightlifting’s snatch and clean & jerk motions. Transformative would be an understatement of the impact these exercise have had on my body, specifically my left knee. Before, an hour at my desk had me limping due to stiffness in my knee. I dreaded the thought of a trip upstairs or even standing up. Now, I forget that I had an issue to begin with. Check out the video.
Ergonomic keyboard to go
Big hands, long/big fingers and a laptop keyboard do not mix. So, an extra ergonomic keyboard travels with me in the trunk for those times when I’m not in the home office. This has come in handy on more than a few occasions.
Ergonomic assessment
After taking part in a webinar on office ergonomics with Jennifer Graham of JG Ergo Consulting, took the next steps and creating my own version of a standing desk. It’s been a few weeks since implementation and the benefits on the legs and overall health have just begun. And as I incorporate more standing into the daily routine, I can’t wait to see what happens.

Are we ready for the approaching loneliness epidemic?
That’s the question asked in a recent column in the Financial Times. It’s author, Federica Cocco recently appeared on Morning Joe on MSNBC. As someone who lives and works alone, it caught my attention. Part of the reason I created My Home Office Hacks is to bridge that gap for those who are not working in an office and seeing people face-to-face everyday. It’s also why we have started our chat and will be doing more things like that in 2023.

Inspiring quote of the week
“The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.”--Confucius
I added four new art pieces to my home office and one to my office space! I also got rid of one bookshelf to create more space on the walls to add my art. That really changed some of the energy in the space.
