Work? Watch a Tom Wilkinson movie instead
Also, create your own 2023 year in review and if you have to work, work in bed.
The passing of legendary character actor Tom Wilkinson a few days ago leaves a gaping hole in the movie industry. It’s also filled up my watch list for 2024. Maybe it can fill yours by watching and re-watching his best roles.
My favs are the historical ones:
Benjamin Franklin in HBO’s John Adams
General Cornwallis in The Patriot (what talent in that movie)
LBJ in Selma (with Tim Roth as George Wallace)
And, of course, the hysterical one: The Full Monty
What’s your favorite Tom Wilkinson role or movie?
A fun exercise for today
Check out this list of Your Year in Review questions. Try to answer a few (or more). Even if 2023 wasn’t your greatest year, you may find this to be an enjoyable exercise.
Work in bed today
Some of you will insist on doing something today. Yours truly can relate. So, if you’re going to work, do it in bed, on a couch or somewhere besides your work station. Here’s a nice lap desk you could use for today and the rest of 2024 for those times you just don’t want the same old same old.
Inspiring quote of the week
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.”—Albert Einstein
I"ll have to check some of these out. He plays Emma Thompson's step-father in Sense and Sensibility--a small but memorable role. His death sets in motion the events of this film.
