There is a lack of professionalism occurring which began even before the pandemic. I believe this physical manifestation of that lack of professionalism is part of what is reducing the overall civility in this country. Its what's best for me regardless of how it impacts others and exemplifies qualities for the next generation. I support anyone who has challenges emotionally and/or physically and are willing to assist as an advocate and ally but... let's all be professional in the roles we have accepted.

Agreed to a certain degree. Senator Fetterman is the only one dressing like that and Congress is hardly civil to each other. But I hear you in other walks of life. I did a LinkedIn poll a while back about eating while on Zoom. Very interesting reactions. Mostly, what does that have to do with anything and my skills. It's the same argument for somebody who wants to wear jeans or worse to work. While that may be true, it does make a statement that can be taken any number of ways. My thought is, "why risk that?". Dress to the importance of the meeting or the position.

Also, who's John Fetterman? And... what's the response to this from other Senators? And his constituents?

I believe that's covered up above as to who he is. In Congress, reactions seem to fall along party lines, https://apnews.com/article/senate-dress-code-fetterman-schumer-1175eec2cc270e22848da891865134d3. I'm going to go out on a limb and say voters follow the same path.
