Last week, we covered closed captions and transcripts for YouTube, Vimeo and other videos as a way to improve SEO. There’s an added benefit to doing that: social media posts.
With subtitles and/or the transcript in hand, you now have copy all typed out. That makes it easier to scan the content and pick out important quotes or subject sections. You can put that copy in quotes and use it as a social media post with a link to the video. You can do the same for podcasts if you have a transcript.
For example, this interview on the Tonight Show with Lucille Ball. There’s a point during the interview where she says, “I miss it everyday of my life” in reference to doing her television show. So, a post could read something like this.
“I miss it everyday of my life” was Lucille Ball’s response to how she felt about the I Love Lucy program. What do you miss most about (fill in the blank). And then put in a link to the video.
This can be a very effective strategy if you host webinars and attendance may not have been quite what you wanted. So find a half a dozen or so quotes, put them in a post with the link and see if you can get some eyeballs on it. It’s a great way to get the most out your webinar event.

Portable monitor: Is it really essential
Ever feel like you were the last person who did NOT have two monitors? That’s yours truly. Every one tells me once you have one, you’ll never go back. So much so that when you work outside your home office, you’ll want to have one as well. Hence the need for a portable monitor like this one.
