Cold showers and what's inspiring you in 2023
Working from home requires motivation on a daily, even hourly basis. What do you do
How on earth are cold showers inspiring? That’s a question I’ve asked myself when others have suggested the practice. Jim Kwik. Matt Furey, Mike Savage and any number of other folks who I turn to for mental, physical and spiritual guidance endorse the practice. Then I read David Goggins, Can’t Hurt Me.
Now, nowhere in Can’t Hurt Me Does it say to take cold showers. Yet when you read about someone who comes from a horrible background to become a Guinness world record holder for pull-ups and survive not one or two but three Hell Weeks as part of his Navy Seal training, it’s difficult to not want to challenge yourself in some way.
So, I decided to challenge myself by taking only cold showers. Started New Years Day this year. And it will continue for the foreseeable future. Even took one last night when the wind chill here in New England dipped to -40 F.
What’s inspiring you to push yourself a little further? Is it a book? Or is it a who? Who in your life, directly or indirectly, is pushing you to take it up a notch? Please leave a comment below.
And if you haven’t read or heard David Goggins’ Can’t Hurt Me, I can’t recommend it enough. Check it out by clicking the button below.

Great read. We're on the everyday ColdShower train as well.
Hey Joe. Glad to hear you are into cold showers now. I applaud your efforts.
I started taking cold showers about 1980, and have conservatively taken over 200 a year since then. That's over 8000! Ha ha ha. I just love them. Clears my head, seems to boost my immune system. I especially like them when I am not feeling well, and also learned the technique of alternating cold and hot, 1 min each, for about 15 minutes. Really helps get over an illness. I originally came to them through doing Kundalini Yoga, as they are recommended first thing in the morning, before doing a yoga practice....https://www.3ho.org/article/cold-showers/
