Out of 550 issues almost all of them were written the day before, a few times the day of, and only once I believe I wrote an issue two days before because I was going to be driving all day.

I honestly love writing my newsletter so much that I haven't had a desire to unplug from it yet, I'm sure it will happen at some point in the future though.

I know exactly what you mean, Jamie. I love writing My Home Office Hacks. And I like writing it as close to publication date as possible, just in case I get some idea or come across some morsel I can use.

There's something therapeutic about it.

I have a routine habit of bringing my laptop with me on weekend trips to see family, will all intentions of getting work/personal creative work done.

More often than not the laptop sits in the bag the entire weekend.

The act of bringing it keeps me attached to the work and leads to guilt I'm not working.

We're all different, but for me, I function the best with complete detachment.

Have a great trip!

Thanks, Jonathan. I'm leaning to bringing it. The Just In Case factor is the driving force. It will probably sit in the bag with the exception of the airport.

We always bring a laptop, just in case! Of course, depending upon where you are going, your internet availability may be spotty or non-existent, even if they say they have WiFi.

We get all high and mighty about being unplugged. Yet the fact remains we do use our technology and our personal lives, which includes travel. It's kind of nice to have that resource. It's really a matter of avoiding the temptation to look at work stuff

I just came back from vacation and was totally unplugged from work and it was probably the best vacation I've had in a long time! I know you're already on vacation and I hope you didn't bring it with you but, if you did, then I hope you use it sparingly. Enjoy your time off!

I always bring my "laptop" (Surface Go 3). It's tiny and light, and no matter where I go I take some time to write my daily newsletter.

Interesting. So you never write your newsletters in advance so you can totally unplug?
