I've already stopped using Twitter, since E.M. took over. I've moved over to another site, but I definitely miss Twitter. I mostly used it for breaking news and linking to things I found interesting. There doesn't seem to be anything that fills that gap for me now. I'm not a "video" person so TikTok is of no interest to me.
Interesting. I'm not sure I need to replace it either. A couple of Substacks I read recently talked about Mastodon. But they mentioned waiting lists. Seems a little strange to be a on a waiting list for a social media site.
I went to Counter Social. It's definitely different. There's no algorithm, basically there's a community firehose, and then you can set up columns based on people you follow and hashtags. Takes some getting used to...but its designed so that posting stuff just to market or get attention doesn't fly. People are way nicer.
